This short video shows how a new series of digital audio guides aimed at promoting sustainable tourism in Venice were created and co-designed by young students. Digital itineraries on foot and by bicycle invite visitors to discover a “forgotten Venice” – the genuine urban fabric neglected by mass tourism but still existing in some authentic areas of the city, as well as the fascinating and silent lagoon islands.

Composed by Limpet Space Race (Hannah Jacobs and Nicholas O’Brien), Earth Flow is the first in a series of new electro-orchestral compositions that meld Orchestra of St. John’s string with researchers’ field recordings and the band’s experimental DIY electronics, creating vivid and moving soundscapes that raise awareness about global water security.
Earth Flow is a collaboration with research documentary project Himalayas To Ocean, exploring themes of erosion, landslides and climate change.

The LORDS CREW was invited to contribute a painting to the Mural Harbor in Linz, one of Austria’s most innovative spots for Urban Art and muralism.The LORDS (Legends Of Rare Designs), founded in 1986 in San Jose, is a collective of Graffiti artists from California with members in Austria. To strengthen their special connection, austrian crew members FADER, NYCHOS, PHEKT, SHED and SHUE77 invited Graffiti legend Lord QUAKE from San Francisco to paint this large scale mural together with them. ”Lords Of The Red Dragon” is the bursting outcome of a small crew reunion and celebrates the artists’ mutual love to Graffiti.

The video explores the perspective of users of traditional ‘tankas’ which is a rainwater harvesting system found in old homes in the pols of Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

This video interview to Riccardo Cappellozza (1935-2020), the “last boatman” of Venetian inland waterways, recalls the fluvial trade which was characterizing a great number of rivers and navigable canals located in Venice’s hinterland until the 1950s. A unique network of waterways which can be used today by residents and visitors for new recreational practices, but also as an important asset for ecosystem regeneration as set by the SDGs – Sustainable Development Goals.

Germano da Preda is keeper of the Arzanà (the historical “arsenal” of Venice, in the local dialect) – which is the only museum dedicated to sailing traditions in Venice. In this video interview, he illustrates some traditional objects of a unique water heritage. Historical boats, artefacts and tools are kept still in a squero: the typical family boatyard for the making and maintenance of gondolas passed down over generations.

A video interview to Saverio Pastor, one of the few Venetian craftsmen who is keeping the secrets of wooden oarlocks’ production for gondolas and other traditional boats. Oarlocks are one of the last authentic artefacts originally made in Venice – a city today impacted strongly and negatively by mass overtourism and globalized products.
