The Global Network of Water Museums is glad to join the worldwide celebrations for the International Museum Day organised by the International Council of Museums on 18th May. This year’s theme ‘museums as cultural hubs – the future of tradition’ resonates closely with our vision. Museums – and cultural organisations at large – are framed as both keepers of tradition and key agents in contemporary issues, all locally active while globally connected.

The Global Network of Water Museums, whose core mission is, in fact, to bring together heritage institutions from all over the globe with the common goal to defend water, firmly believes that cultural organisations play a key role in disseminating a much-needed culture of sustainability.
By researching water cultures and their traditions, the Global Network is dedicated to promoting a sustainable water education persuaded that by treasuring the past we can build a bright future, together.
