Active, attractive and memorable: these are the key words to define MUSE–The Science Museum that aims at involving its visitors with innovative themes and exhibitions. 19,000 square metres exhibit where MUSE stimulates in its visitors the thirst for knowledge, stressing the urgency of focusing on the delicate relationship among mankind, Nature and environmental changes. A place where visitors learn how science and technology can be implemented in a sustainable manner. Opened in late July 2013, the MUSE offers a lively experience to youngsters and families. It is a place where fun and learning go hand-in-hand with the pleasure of surprise and unveil unexpected facts about our world.

Lake Tovel Limnological Station, Brenta Dolomites, Trento Province (Italy)

The Lake Tovel Limnological Station is included in the widespread network of museums and local offices of MUSE. Founded in 2003 as part of the Life-Tovel project, since 2006 it has been used for the research activities of the Lake Tovel Limnology and Algology Section and for summer schools for college students, educational activities for schools and for scientific interpretation and mediation for the public. All activities are carried out in collaboration with the Adamello-Brenta Natural Park and the Municipality of Ville d’Anaunia (TN).

The mystery of the Red Lake. Limnological Station of Tovel.

Theatrical animation on the phenomenon of redness of Lake Tovel where the “Lago di Tovel” path, the Limnological Station of the Science Museum and the Lake itself (with activities that involve the use of the boat) become the original stage. Children, accompanied by various characters / guides, funny and incapable, mysterious, sometimes even threatening, others still holding fundamental elements in the search for clues, try to solve the mystery of the Lake. Scientific and historical information are mixed with legends and imaginary.

Science on a Sphere: climate change

Science on a Sphere (SOS) is a multi-projection system on a spherical screen that gives the illusion of seeing our planet from space, together with the representation of all the phenomena that make it a vital planet: the pulsations of the seasons, the embroideries created by marine currents, the movements of tectonic plates over geological eras. As well as the obvious signs of human presence and impact: from shipping routes to effects on the climate system.

In this activity, also through some practical experiments on the natural phenomena that regulate our planet, students will be able to get to know some basic elements of climate sciences and the main evidences that support the thesis that global change is underway.

The secrets of Lake Tovel

A path full of laboratory activities around the famous “red lake”, at the Limnological Station of the MUSE and directly in the lake, with the use of boats. The latest findings relating to the non-redness of Lake Tovel allow us to investigate the subject of phytoplankton, the redness phenomenon and the causes of its disappearance.

Who wants to be sustainable?

Through a series of quizzes related to issues on alternative energy, risks, food resources, environmental and social impacts, the participants, divided into teams, will face the future of their own continent.

Each team will represent a different area of ​​the world, in a challenge that begins in 1980 and that will continue until the near future, highlighting the different approach implemented over time towards the problem.

As the years go by, the boys will answer the questions to try to improve the situation in their area, they will understand the importance of signing agreements such as the Kyoto protocol and the Paris conference on climate, in an attempt to achieve the goals of sustainable development (SDG).

The pressing of questions will be interspersed with global events, some expected, others unexpected, putting the players-population in difficulty: collaboration, exchanges and aid between the continents will make it clear that, from an apparent initial challenge, sustainability turns into a common good.

Every year in May, MUSE offers the Sustainable Development Festival for schools and general public. Equity, biodiversity, innovation, education and environmental protection are the main themes of the Festival promoted by ASviS and MUSE through conferences, shows and workshops.

A 17 days national festival promoting the UN 2030 Agenda.

Let’s make goals! Sustainable development week

Every year in February the MUSE proposes the SDG Week (Sustainable Development goals, the sustainable development goals of the UN 2030 Agenda) for schools. During the week, in the rooms of the Museum, laboratory activities will be available both on reservation and on free use, an opportunity to explore current events and imagine intelligent solutions for the future.
